However, another interesting fact is that the name given in Karate Kid Part II was not the original name given to Miyagi. In Karate Kid (1984), Miyagi’s dog tags attached to the keys to the 1948 Ford given to Daniel for his birthday show Miyagi’s first name as Hideo. I remember watching the Karate Kid movies as a kid and I can’t express enough how impressed and surprised I am at the level of quality this series is.

It successfully brings back the old “feel” of the movies while adding a new and complex storyline. It truly embodies the legacy of the rivalry, but captures the spirit of the movies to an unprecedented degree. I can’t wait to see what they do in season 2.
